After your breakfast, you will enjoy an oral history of the Bushmen, as well as Lake Eyasi. While moving from one place to another on foot, searching for and discovering local flora and fauna, your guide will ensure that you get the most out of your experience by sharing his expert knowledge. Lunch will be a social occasion, shared with local bushmen and your guide, of course, in the beautiful natural setting of Lake Eyasi. After lunch, you will continue with the first round of the northern side of the Lake Eyasi area, where the Bushmen will share something of their history. After breakfast, your local guide will begin a tour of the area's different villages, each led under their own authority. These villages show the distinction of authority and clan that exist in the Bushman tribes – although, the villages are always communally owned by all members. After lunch, we'll spend time with one of the Hadzabe communities which choose to live a traditional hunter-gather lifestyle. They live far from the normal tourist route, and are therefore very difficult to reach by car. As such, you'll be spending the night at a mobile safari camp.

Day 7Hunting Safari Lessons

Activities Included

Animal Tracking Camping Cooking Game Walk General Photography Landscape photography Sports Wilderness Trail Wildlife Photography Bird Watching Culture

After your breakfast, you will be guided through a personalised hunting lesson with the Bushmen, before the actual hunt the following day. Throughout the course of the day, you will learn how to hunt down game, slaughter an animal, and how to prepare a fire from scratch. We try to keep groups of guests small in order to avoid alerting the game to our presence and having an adverse affect on the hunt.

Day 8Hunting Safari

Activities Included

Animal Tracking Camping Cooking General Photography Landscape photography Bird Watching Culture

After your breakfast, you will join your local Bushman guides for a full day of tracking and hunting wild game, as well as honey gathering. Although one might think that meat forms a large part of their diet, the Hadzabe are largely vegetarians, and the majority of their meals are based around honey and fruit. Meat from the hunt will be taken back to the village to be shared in a communal bush braai (a kind of bonfire barbecue).

Travel Time: 1 hrs

Day 9Joining the Hadzabe Women

Activities Included

Camping General Photography Landscape photography Wilderness Trail Bird Watching Culture

This morning, you'll be joining the Hadzabe women as they forage for roots, tubers, and berries. This is a most enjoyable experience, as you are sure to learn a lot about local plants and their various medicinal uses. This is most interesting part of the safari because you'll get to experience firsthand the marriage of humankind and nature. You will learn more than you'd ever expect and, if you have a passion for botany, you'll have a field day! At the end of another immersive cultural experience with the Hadzabe, you'll retire to your mobile safari campsite to watch night fall over the Tanzanian landscape.

this is a journey that enables you to grow as a human being. We reached out to peers and connected, we learnt so much from the people we encountered on this trip. It's very basic but that's the point, to live like locals and in doing so, perhaps even rediscover yourself.
