Summary

On this awesome safari you will have a chance to really experience Uganda's National Parks. You will be able to visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, have game drives, as well as boat rides to the bottom of the falls. Today, your driver will pick you from the accommodation for your day trip to the gorgeous Murchison Falls National Park. The highlights of this park include: the roaring rapids of the stunning Murchison Falls, the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest National Park where you will have the chance of viewing lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants, as well as a large concentration of hippos and crocodiles. For birders, the Murchison Falls boasts of almost over 450 bird species including the dwarf king fisher and the Goliath heron among others. En route to the park, we shall stop for a visit at the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, where you will have at least one exciting hour of rhino tracking. Another stop will be in the small town of Masindi to enjoy our delicious pre-packed lunch. At the end of the day, we return to our accommodation and rest up for the next day.

Day 3Game drive and afternoon boat trip

After your lovely breakfasts this morning, you will embark on a game drive across the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest National Park, where you will have the opportunity to spot lions, giraffes, hartebeests, buffalo and elephants, among others. For any birder, this area is home to fascinating birds like the secretary bird and black chested snake eagle, to name a few. Then you will have lunch at the gorgeous Paraa Safari Lodge. After lunch you will head out for the boat trip to the base of Murchison Falls, where you will also be able to catch sight of more animals including hippos, crocodiles and several aquatic birds. Then, if you desire it, we could have a hike to the top of the Falls. The hike may be a strenuous one but the thrill upon reaching the top is unforgettable and more than makes up for it! Then we will return to our accommodation for a relaxing evening.

Day 4Exit Murchison Falls and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, we head out to the rangers’ point to receive some briefing on the 'do's and don’ts' of chimp trekking. Thereafter, you will proceed to the trek in search of the chimps in the Kibale Forest. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will be allowed a full hour in their presence. Once this is done, you will return to the lodge for lunch, and after that, you will head out once again but this time, for the Queen Elizabeth National Park. You should arrive with enough time to check into your accommodation and get some rest for the day ahead.

You have to be up and have your breakfast early today, as it is a full day ahead. Then we will proceed for a morning game drive to the Kasenyi Plains, where you can spot various wild animals, such as lions, elephants, buh bucks, Cape Buffalo, Defassa water bucks, giant forest hogs, Ugandan kobs, and many more. After all the excitement is done, you return to your accommodation for some rest and lunch. Then from there, you have a scheduled 2-hour relaxing boat cruise on the lively Kazinga Channel which connects Lakes George and Edward. You will surely be fascinated by the concentrations of giant hippos, elephants and crocodiles, and you will also be able to see many varieties of birds at the water shores. At the end of the day, you will be returned to your accommodation for dinner and some relaxation.

Today, after breakfast, we set off for the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park – famously known for its resident tree-climbing lions, which you have a high chance of spotting if they are not hidden and hunting in the grasslands. Then we continue on to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a large habitat for mountain gorillas in Uganda (harboring an estimated 400 mountain gorillas – roughly half of the world’s population) including several habituated groups, which can be tracked. With a strenuous day ahead, you will do less upon your arrival at your accommodation, just check in and relax as you prepare for the exciting Bwindi gorilla trekking experience the following day.

After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, you will enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular! The area offers dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but it is crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, allowing access to tourists and visitors. The time spent and the route taken will vary, as both are dependent on the movements of these great primates. Once you locate a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savored and remembered. After all that excitement, you will be returned to your accommodation, where you will have lunch and thereafter check out for a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

After your breakfast today, we set off to the Lake Mburo National Park for the day. On the way, we will drive past the gorgeous intensely terraced Kigezi hill slopes, into the little town of Mbarara, before finally arriving at the Lake Mburo National Park. We should arrive in the early afternoon and have an opportunity to rest for a bit before proceeding out for the late afternoon or evening game drive and viewing. On the game drive, you can expect to see some amazing animals, like the gigantic eland antelopes, herd of zebras, topis, impalas, warthogs, Ugandan kobs, Cape buffalo and many more. After this, we return to relax at our accommodation for the night.

Day 10Nature walk and transfer to Entebbe Airport

On this last day of the tour, you can enjoy your early breakfast, before proceeding to the Park for the Mburo morning park/nature walk, with the accompaniment of an armed Ugandan Wildlife Authority ranger/guide. On this exciting early morning guided walk, you often encounter hyenas that are returning to their dens after a night of being on the prowl. Also, you will have the opportunity to encounter (at close range): zebras, giraffes, eland, topi, different types of antelope, Cape Buffalo and many more. Then you can also take the trail to the top of the hills for a stunning view of Lake Mburo and the park. From this vantage point, you will have a great view of 9 of the 12 lakes that surround the Lake Mburo National Park.
