Summary
Katavi National Park is the third-largest national park in Tanzania, has big herds of animals but is a less travelled place. There is not much population of tourist motor vehicles, this allows a tourist to watch any animals for a long time without the interference of other noisy motor vehicles. Lake Tanganyika is the second big & deepest lake in the world. 16% of lake freshwater in the world is found in this lake. It's situated along the Rift Valley zone and has the most beautiful shores and mountains beside it. Nkondwe waterfall is the only waterfall in Tanzania which its flow hides in the rocks show up later.

Upon arrival at Mpanda Airport, you’ll meet and greet our friendly Tanzanian representative, who will pick you up and transfer by car/minibus to Mpanda town on the base of the magnificent Lyamba lya mfipa Mountains and hills. The drive from the airport is in places scenic if you consider that the indigenous people’s activities along the town portray the true African lifestyle accompanying you for most of the journey to Mpanda. Upon arrival in the town, proceed for accommodation and dinner. Overnight at Lyamba lya mfipa Hotel in Mpanda. During the evening you will have a privilege to enjoy the beautiful traditional dances from the natives accompanied by the barbeque- bonfire to welcome you to the land of hospitality.

Together with your Safari guide and our representative, you'll proceed on a lifetime adventure towards Katavi National Park for a morning game drive. The park with its shallow lake depth is known for its over 250 bird species, primate-filled forests (look out for the long-tailed Guenon monkeys) and grassy plains. A large area of the park is covered by bushes and plain land which is home to colonies of Vouchers and other water birds. Apart from elephants, you might also spot giraffes, hippos, waterbuck and impalas while the forests near the lake are teeming with noisy groups of monkeys and baboons. From the pop-up roof of the safari vehicle, you will be able to absorb the sights and sounds of nature. In the late afternoon, you will leave the Katavi National Park.

A drive from Mpanda to Majimoto village is impressive but bumpy. These are the clear and not turquoise waters of the Chemka Hot Springs, an oasis of geothermal warmth that bubbles up from underground. Surrounded by lush forest alive with birdsong and the call of monkeys, the Chemka Hot Springs is an ideal place to ease those tired legs after a strenuous ascent up Mpanda. They’re a little bit of heaven that’s perfect for a day trip, and those warm clear waters invite you to linger and explore but not to swim. If you really don’t want to leave just yet, we can organize afternoon barbeque or even an overnight stay. After having lunch, your tour guide will take you to Nkondwe waterfall, where you can see the beautiful waterfalls hitting the basin ground and hides in the rocks then ascend up to the rocks. You will return refreshed, revitalized and relaxed.

The remote Rift Valley Lake on the border of Tanzania & DRC is only 120km from Mpanda and therefore the perfect getaway for a day. Pure tranquillity and beautiful nature await you at the lake. Our fibre boat will take you to the quiet lake zone where you can do Spot fishing and see various species of Aquatic amphibs including Aquarium fishes. Explore the area, swim in the crystal clear water, kayak across borders or simply enjoy the stunning vistas of an untouched Africa. After getting back to the beach, you will be taken to visit Bustani ya Ndege (Garden of Birds), here you can enjoy various species of birds in the forest, you will hear birds songs and see their nests.
