Day-by-day Description

Day 1 to Day 2ARRIVAL & TREK BRIEFING WITH A GUIDE AFTER ARRIVAL

On arrival from KIA we transfer roughly 1 hour to your hotel in Moshi town. You`ll have a short time to freshen up, and then have a briefing.Your guide will give you a briefing and ensure that you have all the gear required for the climb. If you are missing essential equipment it can be rented for very cheap prices.

Day 2 to Day 3MORNING – PICK UP FROM HOTEL HEADING TO LONDOROSSI GATE (2385M), BEGIN ASCENT TO LEMOSHO FOREST (MTI MKUBWA CAMP) (2750M).

We depart Moshi for Londorossi Gate, which takes about 4 hours; here we will complete entry formalities while guides and porters prepare equipment. We then continue to drive up a steep path to the Shira Gate where we will begin the hike.

Day 3 to Day 4MORNING – BIG TREE CAMP (2780M) TO SHIRA 1 CAMP (3500M)

Today You Will Trek Across A Plateau Of Grassy Moorland And Heather Scattered With Volcanic Rock Formations. Our Destination For Today Is The Shira 1 Camp From Where There Are Often Views Of Kibo Peak Floating On The Clouds. We Gain A Reasonable Amount Of Altitude Today And Parts Of The Route Are Fairly Steep.

After A Good Night’s Rest And Breakfast, We Set Off On Our Walk To Barafu Camp At 4640m. The Climb Will Take Us Across Desolate Scree Slopes With No Vegetation Around Us At All. It’s A Tough Steep Walk Made More Difficult By The Altitude.

Day 8 to Day 9 BARAFU CAMP (4640M) TO UHURU PEAK (5895M) TO CRATER CAMP (5,790M)

Wake before dawn to start your summit approach. You’ll reach Uhuru Peak in the early afternoon, when few groups are around. A short descent brings you to Crater Camp, set in soft sands near the famed Furtwangler Glacier.

Visa application & Visa costs Most can purchase a visa at the point of entry. You need a passport valid at least half a year, one clear page in your passport, and (again, in most cases) USD 50 in cash. You do not need a photograph your picture will be taken with a digital camera at the visa desk. It is usually a very quick and simple procedure, though queues can get quite long if your flight was very busy and/or there are several arrivals at the same time. Notable exceptions include but are not limited to: American and Irish citizens need to pay USD 100, and must purchase a multiple entry visa (since September 2007). Remember Mabel that if you intend to fly to Nairobi and then travel on to Tanzania, you will require a transit visa at USD 20 per person, or if re-entering Kenya afterwards, maybe a multiple entry visa to enter Kenya, even if it is only for a few hours. The visa for Kenya and Tanzania is also USD 50 per person for each country (except for American and Irish citizens).
