This exclusive ‘berg and bush’ type tour combines the beauty of the Drakensberg Mountains which is a world heritage site, with a luxury big-5 bush experience at the exclusive Nambiti Private Game Reserve, as well as the culture in Lesotho and the art of Clarens. Starting and ending in Durban, we offer this tour as a private guided tour which takes you from the bustling cityscape of Durban to one of the most picturesque but remote places in the world at the top of Sani Pass and more than 2870 meters above sea level, the Sani Mountain Lodge. A key highlight of this trip is following the Roof of Africa, the highest mountain vista’s south of Kilimanjaro, and while along the way, immersing in the lives of the intriguing and beautiful people of the mountains - the blanket people. Another highlight is a stop at the quaint and artsy town of Clarens, set in the beautiful golden mountains of the region which has streets lined with coffee shops, local artisans and galleries which creates a beautiful vibe. Day 1Sani Pass and Sani Mountain Lodge

General Photography Horse riding Landscape photography Scenic Drive CultureOn the first day of the tour, we will depart from Durban at around 6 in the morning, on a lengthy scenic drive to the top of the iconic Sani Pass. While there, we will then have lunch at the rustic Sani Mountain Lodge, followed by an authentic experience of a Basotho Blanket Presentation. Our ride to Basotho after this and the chance to be immersed in a Basotho Cultural Experience, will be dependent on the weather. After that, we will then have an opportunity to enjoy some sundowners before settling in at the Sani Mountain Lodge (or in a similar lodge in the area), for our overnight stay and delicious dinner.

Day 2Mountain Passes, Bushmen Paintings, Clarens

Landscape photography Scenic Drive CultureToday we begin by heading towards Clarens, an artsy and electric town that is full of life, along the Roof of Africa route. We will be travelling along some of the highest mountain passes in Southern Africa, stemming at around 3 222 meters above sea level. The area is home to the world's highest diamond mine, where flaming volcanic pipes have created beautiful diamonds, as well as hot water springs. We will then be able to have lunch at the dynamic Afriski Mountain Resort. After that, we will then have an exciting viewing of the historic rock paintings done by bushmen many years ago. Then we begin the drive out of Lesotho, moving towards the enriched city of Clarens, through some beautiful Clarens rock formations, to experience some of the art and culture of the area. Our overnight stay for the evening will be courtesy of the lovely Baris Guesthouse.

Day 3Golden Gate National Park to Nambiti Game Reserve

Landscape photography Scenic Drive Wildlife Photography Game driveOn this day, we travel through the breathtaking Golden Gate Highlands National Park, with it's gorgeous colourful sandstone formations and towering rocky outcrops. There will be lunch enjoyed enroute, before we arrive at and check into the Nambiti Game Reserve by 1 in the afternoon. While in the reserve, we will be able to enjoy a thrilling game drive, as well as a chance to spot many of the amazing animals which live there. Then we will retire to our accommodation at the Ndaka Safari Lodge and rest up for the new day ahead.

This absolutely gorgeous destination has so much to offer and your participation simply depends on your preference. If you are after some thrills, you could go on a game drive or explore the lodge and its surrounds. Or you could opt for a more calm experience and spend the day lounging or reading by the pool or telling stories and mingling around the fire pit. The choice is up to you! At the end of the day, you can then wind down and rest up before the final day of the tour.
