Join us for a unique conservation experience on a Big 5 Game Reserve. Over the course of 4 days, you will be immersed in wildlife management, learn pivotal bush skills and enjoy your time at the camp and on game drives. Your 5 star accommodation comes with comfortable tents elevated on platforms overlooking the valley. Your room has a twin or king bed, private bathroom and a deck area. There is a communal lounge with a dining room, kitchen, relaxed sitting area and a outdoor dining boma. You also have a pool and comfy hammocks. Day 1First day on Reserve
Activities IncludedWilderness Trail Culture
Today you drive to Gondwana Private Game Reserve, a 4 hours' drive East from Cape Town. You can also book a transfer with us at additional cost. Arrive on the reserve and familiarize yourself with the landscape. You will be staying in a tented camp, in a spacious and luxurious 5 star tented room. You will be staying here for 3 nights. Your tented room has a spacious private bathroom and a lovely viewing deck. Meet the conservationists with whom you will be working to manage the reserve. You will receive an introduction to the reserve and wildlife management, alien-plant management and anti-poaching. You will head out for your first game drive and/or game walk.
Day 2Conservation Work

Conservation activities may include: Wildlife husbandry and care of rare and endangered species such as rhino, disease-free buffalo and sable Monitoring of ecological impact of keystone species such as elephant, lion, buffalo and giraffe together with behavioral analysis Game Census Wildlife monitoring and recording (focus on large predator movement (lion)) Monitoring of the cape leopard cameras established on Gondwana and surrounding area Alien invasive tree species eradication Water assessments Elephant dung sampling Bird identification and monitoring Translocation & veterinary care of wildlife – season dependent Bush skills and interpretation Veld management A TYPICAL DAY 06:00 – Wake up 06:30 – Breakfast (cold buffet & Ranger’s fry up) 07:00 – Depart on Morning activity (Example – locating cheetah/monitoring/leopard cameras) 10:30 – Move to the conservation project site (Example – Erosion site/Wattle clearing site/water system assessment ) 13:00 – Packed lunch in the bush or at the camp 14:00 – Continue with conservation/field project 16:00 – Depart on evening game monitoring drive 18:30 – Return to camp and freshen up 19:00 – Dinner (homemade, hearty meals as well as a potjie & braai night) 20:30 – Evening talk and prep for the next day’s activity
Day 3Conservation Work

Early in the morning you will set off for a second day together with the conservationists. Again, you will be working on whatever project is ongoing at the moment and you will deepen your knowledge about animal behavior, wildlife management, our ecological philosophy, anti-poaching and much more. Return to camp tonight for a sumptuous and well deserved meal.
Activities IncludedGame drive
