Summary
This photographic safari offers a diverse opportunity to photograph Africa’s Big 5 and a huge amount of other animals and birds in their natural wild habitat. We will visit two destinations in northern Zululand, firstly a private Big 5 game reserve and the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. This photo safari is limited to 7 guests where professional photographic guide Rory Baker or Alan Nixon and one local Professional Ranger or Guide will accompany you throughout the photo safari.

Day-by-day Description
Day 1Transit from Durban / Arriving at the Private Game Reserve.
Activities Included
Animal Tracking Bird Photography General Photography Landscape photography Wildlife Photography Photo-safariDepart Durban / King Shaka Airport to arrive at the private Game Reserve in the heart of Zululand around 1:00 pm. After checking in and settling down at the lodge we prepare for our first sunset photo safari drive followed with refreshments and snacks along the way followed by dinner afterwards at the lodge
Day 2Game Drive Photo Safaris
Mornings start off with an early sunrise photo safari game drive with coffee and rusks along the way. There are several routes and we will work closely with local Professional Game Rangers, monitoring the weather to determine which route to drive for what we are looking for on the game drive. After the sunrise photo safari drive, we head back to camp for breakfast followed by some editing and photography discussions.
After lunch at the lodge and a siesta we prepare for the afternoon and evening sessions, which will depend on weather.
These sessions may include:
Sunset photo safari drive, which includes a sundowner in the bush before heading back to the lodge for dinner.
Afternoon photo safari with a sunset photo session in the bush followed with a bush dinner.
In the in-between times and evenings you will have the opportunity to download and edit photos in a private bush camp lounge area where Rory or Alan will assist with post processing tips and discussions on photography.

Day 4Game Drive Photo Safari / Transfer to iSimangaliso Wetalands Park (St. Lucia)

Animal Tracking Bird Photography General Photography Landscape photography Wildlife Photography Photo-safariDay four starts off with an early morning photo safari and perhaps a short session in one of the waterholes with coffee and snacks along the way. Back at the lodge, you will have a late breakfast followed by refreshments and photography discussions before bidding farewell.
We will transfer to the iSimangaliso Wetlands Park (St. Lucia) arriving around 2:00 pm. After checking in and settling down at the Lodge we prepare for our first afternoon activity. Depending on the weather on the day it could be a drive on the eastern shores where will encounter birds and wildlife and a stunning sunset or a sunset and sundowner boat trip on the estuary to photograph hippo, crocodiles and a variety of birds. The evening will finish off with a wholesome meal and coffee with some discussions.
Day 5iSimangaliso Wetalands Park (St. Lucia)

Animal Tracking Bird Photography General Photography Landscape photography Wildlife Photography Photo-safariAfter a good night rest at St. Lucia we will get up early for the days activities which will depend on weather.
These sessions may include:
Early morning or afternoon photo safari drive on the western shores where we will have the chance to encounter elephant, buffalo, giraffe, leopard, waterbuck and many more animals including many birds.
Early morning or afternoon boat trip on the estuary to photograph hippo, crocodiles and a variety of birds.
Early morning sunrise photo session on the beach followed with a game drive or boat trip.
Late afternoon sunset photo session in the bush followed with a bush dinner. After dinner we will do a night drive shoot in the bush under the stars.
On all our photo safari activities we will have coffee and/or refreshments with snacks to tied us over to our next meal.
Day 6iSimangaliso Wetalands Park (St. Lucia) / Transit back to Durban

We will have an early lunch and discussion in St. Lucia or along the way on our journey back to Durban where we will arrive not later than 5:00 p.m.
