Come with us if you want to appreciate the awesome wildlife of one of the world's greatest nature reserves and learn firsthand about the culture and traditions of the Maasai people. This private, 4-day safari tour combines both! We'll take you to an unforgettable safari which, if we're lucky, will bring us into close contact with Africa's big cats and, of course, the mighty Big Five. One day of the tour will be spent amongst the Maasai, appreciating their culture and learning about their way of life. Guests will have the option of staying overnight in a Masaai home. For the rest of the tour, you will be accommodated in budget tented camps with spacious tents, beds, hot showers, and full-board accommodation. The prices reflect a private safari, which means that your group is transported in their own seven-seater, 4X4 safari van with a driver-guide entirely at your disposal (more than one van may be booked for groups larger than seven). We will collect you early in the morning from the airport or, if you land in the evening prior, from your hotel in Nairobi (which we can book on your behalf). After collection, we'll head into the Maasai Mara. We'll make a stop at the Rift Valley View point to enjoy the spectacular sight of the rolling Kenyan plains below. We'll arrive at our camp in the early afternoon, freshen up, and have lunch. In the late afternoon, we'll embark on an evening game drive through the National Reserve on the lookout for the Big Five. If we're exceptionally lucky, we might spot lion or cheetah on the hunt for dinner. After watching the sun set in the park, we'll return to camp to enjoy a fireside dinner under the sparkling stars.

Day 2Full-Day Game Drive

We'll start with a very early breakfast today, so that we might be at the park gates just as they open. This is the best time to track wild animals and find one or the other hunting or foraging for food. We'll make our way up to the Mara River, where - between July and September - the Great Migration takes place. We'll have lunch here. Afterwards, we'll continue our drive through the park in search of the Big Five, before returning to camp to relax, take a shower, and pack an overnight bag. Tonight, you'll sleep in a Maasai village and experience our way of life firsthand. Watch the cows come home from grazing, talk to community locals, and learn something about our culture. Of course, you may opt to stay in the campsite for the night instead. Dinner tonight is a traditional Masaai "Nyama Choma", or barbecue, served in the village.

Day 3Maasai Culture

Today, you are going to discover the culture and traditions of the Maasai people. Breakfast typically begins with milking the cows, before letting them loose to graze. Afterwards, we'll explore our surroundings by foot, learning about animal tracking and medicinal plants all the way. If you want, we can even climb a nearby mountain and have a picnic lunch while enjoying the view. In the afternoon, you may wish to sit down with the village women and learn how to make beaded jewellery, visit the local school, learn Maasai warrior skills (archery and spear-throwing), or simply relaxing in the village. Later on, you might want to head back into the National Reserve for an evening game drive. Finally, we'll return to camp for a fireside dinner.

After all the adventure of the last few days, you may wish for nothing more than a leisurely lie-in - but, if you're still up for some action, you can opt for either a morning game drive or a walking safari. After breakfast, we'll slowly start making our way back to Nairobi, stopping for lunch along the way. This marks the end of the tour. We've loved having you - come back soon!
