You will depart Nairobi in the morning heading north via the shoulder of Mount Kenya to Samburu Game reserve for lunch. We will then have an afternoon game drive and return to camp for some dinner and a good night's rest.

On this day, you'll get to have a full day in Samburu with morning and afternoon game drives. The Samburu Game reserve has spectacular scenic beauty, rivers, and forests. It is an area where the local people have a rich and colorful heritage. The reserves have numerous permanent springs and a wealth of wildlife which includes leopard, hippo, elephant, lion, reticulated giraffe, grevys zebra, and crocodile in the Ewaso Nyiro River. Over 365 species of birds have been identified in the sanctuaries. All meals will be served at the Camp today or you can choose to have an optional picnic breakfast, lunch or dinner.

After breakfast, we'll head north along the Trans Africa highway to Marsabit, an extinct volcano heavily forested on the upper slopes. We'll set up the camp and visit the lodge inside the National Park where you'll be able to see elephant buffalo, greater Kudu among others as the lodge is perched on the edge of the water-filled crater. The thick forest prohibits viewing so we won't ascend too far into the forest. Your dinner will be served at a hotel where you'll be able to get a good night's rest.

After breakfast, we'll depart for Kalacha arriving in time for lunch at Kalacha Camp which is a small settlement on the edge of the Chalbi desert. The rest of the day will be spent at leisure before getting rest at the camp for the next day.

After breakfast, we'll proceed to cross the Chalbi Desert to Lake Turkana arriving in time for late lunch at the Palm Shade Camp outside Loiyangalani, enjoying a cool breeze from the lake soon after lunch. When wet, the desert can not be crossed and alternative routes to the south and north are used. We'll then pitch the tents and relax inside to be protected from the scorching sun and heat characteristic of the harsh climate of this remote area.

After breakfast, we will have a short boat excursion to visit the surrounding areas including the central island. In the evening, we'll make a visit to the Turkana manyattas for traditional dances under a star-studded sky at an extra cost if acceptable by clients. An experience to treasure. We'll then return to the Palm Shade Camp for your dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, we'll depart to Maralal through the south Horr, arriving in time for lunch at Yare Safari Camp. We'll have an afternoon visit to the local village to learn more about the Samburu people. The Yare Safari Camp will then supply you with dinner and overnight accommodation.

After breakfast, we'll drive southwards via Laikipia and Thomson Falls in Nyahururu arriving in the afternoon where we will have our lunch. Thomson falls is 72 meters, the mist feeding the dense forest below. You can check out the falls from above, or there’s a trail down to the bottom of the ravine - wonderful place to take some pictures. After lunch, we'll drive to Nairobi arriving in the evening.
