Once you arrive at Jomo Kenyatta Airport, you will be met and assisted by our safari representative and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day will be spent at leisure in Nairobi or with some small city tour. You will be staying overnight at Nairobi Stanley Hotel, where you will be able to get a good night's rest in preparation for the exciting days ahead.

After breakfast, our 12 Days Africa Bird Watching Safari begins by a drive north via Nanyuki to Samburu National Reserve arriving in time for lunch. This reserve takes its name from a cone of volcanic rock and is one of Kenya’s most pristine game reserves. Your dinner and overnight stay will be held at Samburu Ashnil Luxury Camp.

On this day morning and afternoon game drives will take place. You have the opportunity to see the unique birds and wildlife found only in the northern frontier of Kenya such as Gerenuk, Grevy’s zebras, Oryx, Reticulated giraffes, and the Somali Ostrich. This is Kenya’s semi-arid region characterized by the vast, open landscape which also includes dried river beds, red volcanic soil, rock outcropping, river acacia trees, and palm trees. Your luxury lodge accommodation, Samburu Ashnil Lodge, lies along the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River famous for its big crocodiles. This will be your home for the next two nights.

Today we will travel to the exotic Sweetwaters Tented Camp in the secluded heart of Ol Pejeta Ranch and Rhino Reserve. Our camp overlooks one of the busiest waterholes in the area and offers elephant, giraffe and myriad plains game. This is Africa as Teddy Roosevelt saw it years ago when he led one of the first safaris to tour Africa in comfort and splendor.

After breakfast, we'll drive southwards to the lush foothills of snowcapped Mount Kenya – Africa’s second-highest mountain, arriving at the Lodge in time for lunch, you will relax in the balconies and lounges which provides superb vantage point for game viewing at the water hole. Nestled in the foothills between Aberdare and Mount Kenya National Park, the lodge is famous for its high perches and balconies, overlooking a salt lick and waterholes. Here we will enjoy the finest in high-altitude game viewing. For the night you will be staying at Mountain Lodge.

After breakfast, we'll take a scenic drive to the alkaline Lake Nakuru. In recent years, this lake has become another favorite home of the millions of flamingo which seasonally visit its shores. Lake Nakuru National Park is famous for its thousands of greater and lesser flamingo. This park also provides sanctuary for Rothschild giraffe, rhino and leopard. We'll at the lodge arrive just in time for lunch. An afternoon game drive will take place until sunset. We will then return to Lake Nakuru Sarova Lion Hill Lodge for dinner and get some rest.

After breakfast, we will drive to alkaline Lake Bogoria. In recent years this lake has become another favorite home of the millions of flamingo which seasonally visit its shores. In the afternoon we would have embarked on our bird watching safari. Your overnight stay will be held at Lake Bogoria Lodge.

After a delicious breakfast, we have a full day game viewing experience in Lake Bogoria National Park. We will also travel to Lake Baringo for more birds before coming back to the Lake Bogoria Lodge for our dinner.

We'll depart after breakfast and head to Lake Naivasha arriving in time for lunch. The abundant fish population in Lake Naivasha supports a variety of fish-eating birds like Pied Kingfisher, Black Heron, African Fish Eagle, Long-tailed and the Great Cormorant. We will return to Lake Naivasha Sawela Lodge for our dinner in the evening.

After a full breakfast at Lake Naivasha Lodge, we'll depart overland to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve-jewel of Kenya’s Game Park arriving in time for lunch. The Maasai Mara is Kenya’s finest and most outstanding wildlife sanctuary where gentle rolling grassland ensures animals are never out of sight. The climate is gentle, rarely too hot and well-spread rainfall year-round. The sensation of the great wildebeest migration between July and October is unparalleled. After lunch, we'll explore the Reserve on a late evening game drive. No matter how much you have thought about Africa, this is more than you expected—the big five-Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Rhino and Cape buffalo are in abundance. You will be able to get some rest at the Sarova Masai Mara Camp once we are done with our evening game drive.

Today we will be spent in the vast eco-system of the Mara searching for the big five and much more. You also have an optional balloon safari. Game viewing is great with the opportunity for beautiful pictures. The annual wildebeest migration is expected in the Maasai Mara between July and early November. Millions of animals migrate to the Mara from Serengeti in search of fresh green pastures and water. We will then return to the Sarova Masai Mara Camp.

We will enjoy an early breakfast before we drive back to Nairobi. We'll have some lunch at The Stanley Hotel. The rest of your afternoon is at leisure. In the evening, you'll be transferred to the airport to catch your international flight back home. It is also possible to have an optional dinner at the Carnivore restaurant before you board your homebound flight.
