Day 1Arrival In Accra - Ghana

Welcome to Ghana! Our friendly company driver will meet you at the airport to arrange your private transfer to your hotel, where you can settle in for a welcome drink and a trip briefing. The remainder of the day is yours to spend relaxing and recovering from your flight. Let the adventure begin!

Day 2Accra - Sogakope - Keta

After your breakfast, the driver will meet you at the hotel and take you to Keta, an idyllic coastal town surrounded by the ocean. Make a stop en route to visit Sogakope, where guests may opt for an excursion to the village of Tosukpo. Here, you'll have the option of undertaking an adventure into the wetlands of the of the Avu Lagoon, home of the Sitatunga (an aquatic antelope species) and a variety of savannah- and water-birds. Walk to the picturesque village of Bludo, or visit the local gin distillation. After lunch, you'll arrive in Keta and check into your hotel. Visit Fort Prinzenstein, a prison used by the Danes during the Atlantic slave trade. It functioned as a prison all the way until 1980, when it was damaged by a storm. Spend the rest of the day exploring the Keta Lagoon, an internationally recognised wetlands area where many migratory birds live. The lush landscape is truly spectacular, especially in the months after the rainy season. Guests may arrange a boat trip through the lagoon, populated with mangroves and a myriad little islands. End the day off at your resort; put your feet up, or take a walk along the beach and watch the fisherman at work.

This morning we'll make our way to Amedzofe, the highest hilltop settlement in Ghana. Its location provides stunning panoramic views, surrounded as it is by verdant vegetation and rolling hills. We'll rArrive in Amedzofe, check-in to your hotel, enjoy a late lunch and undertake a hike to the peak of Mount Gemi with one of the local guides.each Amedzofe via Ho. Along the way, we'll make a short stop at the Kente weaving village of Kpetoe to observe the traditional cloth weavers at work. Another must-see is the Volta Regional Museum in Ho, established in 1973 to preserve and exhibit cultural artefacts. Once we've arrived in Amedzofe, check into your hotel, enjoy a late lunch, and embark on an invigorating hike to the peak of Mount Gemi with one of the local guides. Spend the rest of the day exploring Amedzofe; here, you'll see historical landmarks tracing a German presence in the area, namely in the mission and in the Evangelical-Presbyterian Church. Finally, return to your hotel for some hard-earned rest and relaxation!

Today’s agenda includes a tour of Ghana’s finest waterfalls. After a hearty breakfast, enjoy a 1.5 hour hike through leafy forest to the awe-inspiring Ote Falls, where you might stop for a refreshing dip. Our next stop is Wli Falls (known locally as the Agumatsa Falls), the highest waterfall in Ghana. En route to the falls, pay a visit to Liate Wote, a picturesque village nestled in the heart of the Volta Region. Liati Wote is a hidden paradise, surrounded by gorgeous forests which house over 300 species of butterfly. The village is an ideal place to experience rural community life; the friendly locals are always ready to welcome visitors into their home. There are several hiking opportunities in the area; hikers may take a trail through coffee and cocoa fields as well as untouched forest en route to Tagbo Falls; the more adventurous may opt to climb to the top of Ghana’s highest mountain Mt. Afadjato. Proceed to Wli to check into your hotel and enjoy a late lunch. After refreshment, you may wish to enjoy a final hike to the lower part of the Agumatsa Falls for a swim in the crystalline waters of its natural basin. Return to your hotel for a hot shower, a warm dinner, and some welcome rest.

Day 5Wli – Akosombo

Awaken to an invigorating morning swim in the basin of the lower falls before heading onwards to Akosombo. On your route, visit the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, home to a large population of monkeys. The Sanctuary protects these traditionally sacred creatures from poachers. Another option is a visit to the Tafi Abuipe Kente weaving village, one of Ghana’s major kente-weaving centres. Most of the weavers work outdoors, which gives the village an interesting and interactive atmosphere. Once you've arrived in Akosombo, check into your hotel and enjoy a refreshing lunch on the banks of the River Volta. After lunch, there are assorted water related activities available on request. Visitors may choose to rent a canoe, go swimming in a nearby pool, or take a guided boat trip along the river. A boat excursion to one of the islands in the middle of the river can also be arranged.

Day 6Akosombo - Sesemi Slave Village - Boti Falls

Guests may choose to spend the morning engaged in some of the actitivites made available at the hotel. Alternatively, visit the Akosombo Dam for a guided tour. Continue your journey to the Manya Krobo district of the Eastern Region. Along the way, visit Cedi Beads in Odumasi, where you can take part in a workshop on the making of traditional beads from recycled glass. Beads may be purchased from a shop on the premises. Stop for lunch and then drive to Sesemi Slave Village (an hour north of Accra) for a guided tour. Visit the Frederiksgave Plantation, a heritage site and cultural centre covering a chapter in the history of Ghana’s and Denmark’s common past. The site is now a museum, as well as a lovely viewpoint from which one can enjoy the Akwapim hills. Be sure to pay a courtesy call to the Chief and elders of the village, both of whom are indispensable village historians. Continue your journey on a scenic trail through the rolling Akwapim hills to the quiet town of Boti, in the Yilo Krobo District of the Eastern region. Once you've arrived in town, check into your hotel and settle in for dinner.

The day is yours to spend exploring Boti. Boti is known as the definitive hot spot of tourism in the Eastern Region of Ghana for its spectacular waterfalls and hiking trails. Pay a visit to the eponymous Boti Falls, embedded in the very heart of the forest reserve at Huhunya, 17km northeast of the regional capital of Koforidua. Carry on to the majestic Akaa Falls near the Akyeremateng village, about 2km away from Boti Falls. Third on the list is the lesser-known Asenema Falls, one of the hidden gems of the Akuapim Hills. Enjoy a refreshing swim at the cliff base, or perhaps a picnic lunch at any one of the numerous picnic sites en route. There are close to 250 platforms on the cliff to explore, each one offering a beautiful view of the forest sprawling below. Finally, return to your hotel for dinner and a well-earned rest.

Alternatively, visit the Aburi Botanical Gardens, one of the most serene and beautiful places in Ghana. Here, you can enjoy an insightful tour of the many medicinal plants grown here, and their uses. A must-see feature of the gardens are its ethereal wood carvings, created by local artisans. Your arrival in Accra marks the end of your trip.
