Summary
A comfortable "classic" level safari for travel during the dry season months spanning from June to November 2018 visiting Tarangire NP, Lake Manyara NP, Serengeti NP and Ngorongoro Crater. This itinerary is slow paced and offers plenty of time to game drive each park at a leisurely pace. Day-by-day Description
Day 1Arusha
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a Hazina Afrika visa specialist will great you in the arrivals area and assist you in obtaining your tourist visa (fee included). The specialist will then help you collect your luggage and accompany you through customs. Once you pass through the secured area you will be greeted and warmly welcomed to Tanzania by a Hazina Afrika transfer representative. After this you will be transferred to your hotel in Arusha, which will be an approximately one-hour journey. After check-in, your transfer rep will brief you on the following day’s schedule, review a safari safety check list and answer any questions you may have. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the lovely Ilboru Safari Lodge.

Day 2Tarangire National Park

Tarangire has superb game viewing from June to November during the dry season when the wildlife in the surrounding area congregate around the shrinking Tarangire River, the only water source in the Tarangire ecosystem making for great game viewing. Tarangire is known for its iconic baobab trees and also for its massive elephant herds. Don’t be surprised to see herds of upwards of 200-300 elephants in the height of the dry season lining up on the river bank. Overnight at Osupuko Tarangire Lodge located just outside the park gate.
Day 3Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara is famous for its tree climbing lions although the likelihood of seeing lions in a tree is greater in the Serengeti than at Manyara due to the dense forest making visibility difficult. Birdlife is abundant as are the number of baboons and other primates. Depart from Lake Manyara National Park in the late afternoon and head to Karatu town. Dinner and overnight at the lovely Country Lodge.
Day 4Serengeti National Park

While your guide is doing paperwork at the ranger station at Naabi Hill Gate, the entrance to Serengeti National Park, take a short walk up Naabi Hill for a breathtaking view of the surrounding plains. Serengeti is derived from the Maasai word "Serengit" meaning endless plains. While heading to the Central Serengeti and explore the many kopjes, massive granite outcropping that the dot the plains and home to a variety of species of animals and a favourite hang out for lions. Spend the next days game driving Serengeti National Park. Overnight at Kati Kati Tented Camp located in the Central Serengeti.
Day 5Serengeti National Park

Day 7Olduvai & Ngorongoro Highlands

Visit Olduvai Museum en route. Olduvai is one of the most important prehistoric sites in the world. Known as "The Cradle of Mankind", the gorge stretches for nearly 50 km from Lake Ndutu to the Olbalbal Depression. The Leakey’s are the archaeologists responsible for most of the excavations and discoveries in Olduvai Gorge. They unearthed about 60 different hominid remains dating back from 2 million years ago to 17,000 years ago. The remains of about 7,000 extinct animal species have also been unearthed and moulds of some of these artifacts can be seen in the small on-site museum. Overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge perched on the rim of the Crater with fabulous views.
Day 8Ngorongoro Crater & return to Arusha

The Crater is your best opportunity to see the highly endangered black rhino so spend some time scanning the horizon with your binoculars and to try spot one. Enjoy a picnic breakfast watching an African sunrise and spend the rest of the day exploring the world famous Ngorongoro Crater often referred to as “Africa’s Garden of Eden”. Encompassing an area of only 265 sq/km, the dense concentration of wildlife in a confined area allow for incredible game viewing and photo opportunities. Depart from the Crater in the afternoon and begin heading back to Arusha to catch your return flight from Kilimanjaro International Airport. A day room or overnight room in Arusha can be arranged, if necessary, for an additional charge.

If you have not opted for Hazina Afrika’s expedited visa service, you may obtain your Tanzania visa in advance from your nearest Tanzania Consulate or Embassy or alternatively, it can be obtained upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport. The current cost of a Tanzania Visa is $50 US (with the exception of US citizens - $100 US; Irish citizens - $100 US and Pakistani citizens - $200US). Please be sure to bring the appropriate amount of cash in U.S. dollars to pay for your visas. Paper currency must be dated no earlier than 2006 and the bill must be in good condition with no tears or writing. Older currency may not be accepted. If you have expedited visa service from Hazina Afrika at Kilimanjaro International Airport, then the cost of your visa is pre-paid with your safari. MEDICATIONS AND PRESCRIPTIONS If you have any medical condition that requires special care or medications, please inform us so we can alert the guides looking after you on safari. Be sure to bring enough of any prescription medications that you are currently taking. When you pack, make certain that you have all your medications in your carry-on luggage. Never pack any of your medications in your checked luggage in case your luggage gets lost. It is also a good idea to carry a written copy of the prescriptions for any medication you may need, given in its chemical name rather than a brand name. If you have any special condition or allergy that might require attention overseas, have your physician write a letter describing the nature of the condition and the treatment.
