Summary
Leaving behind the bustle and adventure of the Victoria Falls, this tour heads south to Zimbabwe's largest national park, the Hwange National Park. In this park resides the largest elephant herds to be found on the African continent. This tour enters the Matopos/Matobo National Park and observes the magnificent, precariously balanced granite rocks, as well as experiences a game drive. The tour also delves into the Iron Age ruins of the Grand Palace of Zimbabwe, with its 5-meter-high walls, of which no mortar can be seen - the largest and most important stone ruins south of the Sahara and a very special archaeological site, to the extent that eight soapstone carved birds pictured on the Zimbabwean national flag, were actually found.
