Day-by-day Description
Day 1Meet and Go to Kruger
This safari gives you a taste of the African wilderness. Felsch is from the indigenous Tsonga culture, also known as Shangaan (it is complicated! He will walk you through it!). He will provide you insight into what the Kruger was like when people lived here. Felsch's ancestors were pushed to the Mozambican side of the Kruger when the park was created. He is now part of the community that make this cross-border region whole again. Felsch will pick you up from the airport in Johannesburg - or anywhere else in Johannesburg or in the Kruger region - and take you to the Kruger. Depending on season and our departure time from Johannesburg, we will enter the Kruger either through Malelane gate in the south or Orpen Gate which gives access to central Kruger. We will then proceed to check in at the comfortable ensuite chalets either at Berg en Dal in the South or at Letaba in central Kruger. We will do a safari on our way to the chalets.
Location
Johannesburg International Airport, Kempton Park, South Africa
Day 2Full Day Kruger
We go on a full day game drive, optionally returning to camp for lunch, or packing lunch boxes. In late afternoon, now is your best chance to spot a hunt. We continue discovering the exciting animals of the Kruger and return to camp before the sun sets. We braai together in the evening.
Day 3Game Walk and Good Bye
This is our favorite part of your experience. In the early morning, you will get to walk with rangers. This exclusive hike is shared with other guests who also stay inside the National Park. The rangers are armed, this is mostly for poachers, not for the wildlife. The expert rangers know how to read animal behavior and how to keep guests safe. After the walk, pack up and do a game drive as you exit the park. We will drop you of in Johannesburg or at an airport near the Kruger. Please note: If you are over 65 please bring a doctor's note stating you are fit to walk.
