Cape Town is home to one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature and one of the most widely recognized mountains in the world. Flat as a table on top, and often with a tablecloth of cloud, it remains one of the most exquisite views to behold at the southern end of Africa.
You’ll have 12 magnificent days to explore, starting off with the bustling and sophisticated city of Cape Town, nestled between mountains, beaches and Winelands, admire the sunset at Fish River Canyon, journey over the Namib Desert with its splendid red dunes, go on safari in Etosha National Park and finish in one of the smallest and cleanest capital cities in the world, Windhoek where you can treat yourself to the famous locally brewed beer, the Windhoek Lager.
This tour gives you 11 nights of camping under the African sky and transport in an Adventure Overland Safari Vehicle (fitted with 20 Ultimate Safari Seats), which will ensure that you will get an unforgettable camping experience in Africa. With time to explore on your own and optional activities including hikes and skydiving, you will soak up the beauty and diversity of Southern Africa.

Joining Instructions
When you arrive in beautiful Cape Town, you will make your way to the joining hotel. As an added service to our travelers, your arrival airport transfer is included. Walk out of the international arrivals area and look for a transfer person holding an Africa4us sign and your name. Ask him/her what hotel he/she will take you to (do not volunteer this information). Then present your passport for proof of identity.
The tour departs on day 2 in the morning. A brief departure meeting will be held in the hotel reception area in evening on day 1 of your tour at 6 PM. Upon arrival, the reception will provide information from your Tour Leader regarding the meeting place and time.

Cape Town offers an unbelievable variety of experiences, tastes and sightseeing. Try a variety of exotic tastes, like some of the delicious Cape Malay curries, the famous local dish Bobotie, or the freshest seafood at one of our exquisite seafood restaurants. Make sure to arrive a day early to visit the world-famous Robben Island (where former President Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years in prison), visit the stunning Cape Point, or zip up Table Mountain in a cable car to enjoy a panoramic view of Cape Town from the top.

Day 2Cape Town to Springbok

Springbok is set in a narrow valley bisecting the granite domes of the Klein Koperberge. This area is called 'The Garden of the Gods' and is famous for the wondrous display of spring flowers that explode into bloom every August and September.

Day 3Springbok to Fish River Canyon

The canyon is the second largest in the world, surpassed only by the famous Grand Canyon in Colorado. It boasts a length of approximately 180km stretching from Seeheim down to the Orange River, which forms the border between Namibia and South Africa.

Day 4Fish River Canyon to Helmeringhausen

General Photography Landscape photography Scenic DriveThe adventure continues to Helmeringhausen, a settlement made up of little more than a homestead, a hotel, and a petrol station. Helmeringhausen is located in the southern part of Namibia, between the Fish River Canyon and Sesriem. Desert sands in shades of ochre and burnt orange envelop the settlement, couching its visitors in a painter's landscape of colour. Once we've arrived, feel free to relax and enjoy the desert tranquility.

Day 5Helmeringhausen to Sesriem

General Photography Landscape photography Scenic DriveSesriem is a small settlement founded in the Namib Desert with an interesting etymology. Sesriem, which means "six belts", was named for the Dorsland Trekkers, a group of Afrikaans-speaking settlers. Legend has it that they had to tie together six leather thongs (fashioned from oryx hides) to lower buckets into the Sesriem Canyon in order to scoop water back up to the surface. Sesriem is well-known for being the site of entry into the Sossusvlei, which is tomorrow's exciting destination!

General Photography Hiking Landscape photography Scenic DriveAn early departure will give you the opportunity to climb the majestic Dune 45 during the cooler hours of the day. Its unusual name is due to the fact of its position at the 45th kilometre on the road which connects the Sossusvlei to the Sesriem gate. Dune 45 is one of the many star dunes which comprise the unique Sossusvlei landscape; the sand here is coloured a rich, ochre-red due to its high content of iron oxide. The Namib Desert, which is at least 55 million years old, is regarded as the oldest desert in the world. Its dunes are some of the highest in the world. In the afternoon, you will visit the Sesriem Canyon, a small but beautiful canyon, to walk around in and appreciate the distinctive sedimentary rocks that line the canyon walls.

Day 7Sesriem to Swakopmund

General Photography CultureContinue to Swakopmund with its cooler Atlantic sea air, cultural experiences, and options for some extreme adventures like quad biking, sand boarding, 4×4 safaris, skydiving (weather permitting) and more. The only meal provided today is breakfast, as Swakopmund has plenty of wonderful places to eat local cuisine. Swakopmund offers a variety of bakeries and cafes with a selection of reasonably priced meals (budget approximately $5-12 USD per meal).

You can take a walk along the beach and dip your toes in the icy Atlantic Ocean or visit the Krystal Galerie, which boasts with the largest Quartz Crystal Cluster on display in the world weighing in at 14 100kg! Browse the many excellent bookshops and curio shops and spoil yourself with a unique gift from the area. Day 9Swakopmund to Outjo

This quaint town was founded by the German Colonel van Leutwein as a military base for the colonial army. We'll stay here overnight before embarking on the highly-anticipated safari adventure in Etosha tomorrow morning.

Day 10Outjo to Etosha National Park

General Photography Wildlife Photography Game drive Bird Watching CultureAfter breakfast, we'll take off for Etosha National Park, one of Southern Africa’s best-beloved wildlife sanctuaries. Head out for an afternoon game drive to search for elephant, the unique black-faced impala, zebra, the endangered black rhino, or any one of the 100+ African mammal species in the park. In the rainy season the salt pans turn into shallow lakes, temporary oases to which pelicans, flamingos, and other bird species flock. Animals often cluster around watering holes close to the campsites, allowing you to sit in tranquility and wait for the animals to come to you. The watering hole sites are fenced, well-lit, and perfectly safe for game-viewing enthusiasts. Included in the day's activities is a visit to a Himba settlement, where visitors may learn something about the Himba way of life. Guests may also opt for night drives through the park, although these are not included in the itinerary.

Collect memories of unique sights that you are not likely to experience again. Watch ghostly grey-white elephants bathe themselves in the white dust of the area, or zoom in on the magnificent sight of giraffes etched against a wide and open horizon. We'll stay overnight at another beautiful camp inside Etosha National Park. If you're lucky enough, you may fall asleep to the haunting call of the hyena or the majestic roar of a lion in the distance.
Day 12Etosha National Park to Windhoek

CultureOn the last day of the tour, you'll be transferred to Windhoek, Namibia's capital. This is the cue for our final goodbyes, and the end of another incredible tour! Travellers may wish to book an extra day or two in Windhoek to make the most of your stay here. This tiny capital town has loads of interesting things to offer. One of the most famous Gibeon Meteorites display in the Post Street Mall. Shopping opportunities abound and, for the historically inclined, there are many museums and historical buildings within walking distance to the town centre. One of the most widely-photographed and historical landmarks is the Christ Church, a Lutheran church built in the Gothic revival style.
