Welcome to Ghana! Our friendly and professional company driver will meet you at the airport to arrange your private transfer to your hotel. Here, you can enjoy a welcome drink while you are briefed on your upcoming adventure. The remainder of the day is yours to spend recovering from your travels, in preparation for the journey to come!

The area is remarkable for its sheer diversity of ethnic groups and cultural practises, which date back to antiquity, as well as its friendly, warm-hearted locals, ready to welcome you and make your stay in Brong Ahafo a fondly-remembered one. Check into your hotel and enjoy lunch before taking off for the Boabeng Fiema Monkeys Sanctuary, home to traditionally sacred monkeys. In the Sanctuary, humans and monkeys live harmoniously alongside one another. After visiting the monkeys, continue to the ancient Pinihini Amowi Caves, a network of underground caves near Fiema. Legend has it that the Bono people took shelter in these caves after a fierce battle with the Mossi of the north; when the Bono emerged, they established a town called “Yefiri”, meaning “We are coming out”. After a day of exploring, return to your hotel for dinner.

Your next stop is Mole National Park in the northern part of the country. Mole is one of the main attractions of the region - it is particularly well-known for its sizeable elephant population (between 400 and 600 individuals). Besides elephant, visitors stand a chance to see buffalo, warthogs, antelopes, and monkeys. En route to Mole, you may wish to visit Kintampo Falls for a scenic view and a cooling dip in its natural freshwater pool. Once you’ve arrived at Mole, check into your hotel, stop for lunch, and choose between a walking and driving safari through the park. Return to your hotel afterwards in time for dinner, and put your feet up!

Day 6Full day Ashanti City Tour
Visit some of the highlights of the city after breakfast, such as the Manhyia Palace Museum, which is a goldmine of knowledge of the legacies of the Ashanti Kingdom. Proceed to the National Culture centre, which shares its premises with the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum, home to the dazzling studios of traditional potters, brass artists, wood carvers, bead makers, and batik designers. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the three famous craft villages in the Ashanti Region: Ahwiaa (the woodcarvers' village), Adawomase and Ntonso villages (the home of Adinkra), and Bonwire (the Kente weaving village). This part of the tour gives you the opportunity to witness firsthand these African artisans in action, and to buy from them directly. We could also arrange for guests to partake in the Akwasidae Festival on this day, and do the highlights of the craft and kente villages the next morning. The festival is held every six weeks, honoring the ancestors and the Ashanti king. Akwasidae is an ornate ceremony, commemorating the date that the Ashanti Golden Stool was magically brought down from heaven. It is a beautiful and spectacular sight, with colorful canopies and umbrellas amongst drummers, dancers, hornblowers and singers who perform in honour of their ancestral spirits. At the end of the day, you'll return to your hotel for dinner and relaxation.
Day 7Kumasi to Lake Busomtwe
After breakfast, continue to Lake Busomtwe, which lies in a hollow (fringed by steep, lush hills) created by a meteorite. After you arrival at the lake, check into your hotel and spend the day relaxing with a book in hand, or pursuing the many activities available in the area. Take a hike around the lake and spot the native bird and butterfly species, rent a bicycle and visit a nearby village, or go horse riding. You might even try your hand at stand-up paddling on the lake! Wrap up your adventure with a homemade, three-course organic vegetarian meal at the Green Ranch. Alternatively, take part in a batik workshop, where you'll learn how to create colourful patterns using local dyeing techniques. You might also choose to visit a nearby cocoa plantation to see how the famous crop is propagated and processed. At the end of the day, retire to your comfortable hotel for dinner and a night's rest.
Day 8Lake Bosumtwe to Accra
Spend the morning at leisure by the lake before finding beginning the journey back to Accra. There are more than a few interesting stops along the way. The Ashanti region is also well known for its shrines, which date from the 18th and 19th centuries. The shrines, also called Abosomfie, sacred and informative displays of artefacts and other fetish items. Some shrines of historical significance include: the Besease shrine (the place the spirits were consulted before leading the attack on the British Fort in Kumasi), the Bodwease Shrine (which forms an extension of the chief's palace), and the Atia Kusia Kwame Shrine, Aduko Jachie Shrine and the Adango Shrine (which are highly decorated and very impressive). Another option is to visit the Bobiri Tropical Forest Reserve, a stretch of well-preserved forest. The lodge is situated in the middle of the forest, where you can enjoy serene natural scenes. Undertake a guided forest walk and learn about a wide variety of tropical timbers. After a lunch break, you'll continue to Accra, where you might want to take some time to do some last-minute souvenir shopping before you are dropped off the airport for your departure. Bon voyage!
