Today we head out to Tarangire National Park for our first game drive, we have lunch in the park and stay for as long as we please. Tarangire is best known for it's massive elephant herds. We then con tinue onwards and upwards for a short journey up the steep rift valley ridge and stay just on top of the cliff overlooking the alkaline Lake Manyara, described by Hemingway as the loveliest lake in Africa, Overnight at Serena Lake Manyara Lodge.

Discover the eerie Lake Natron. The alkaline lake is the only regular breeding area in East Africa for the 2.5 million lesser flamingoes. This remote part of Tanzania, inhabited only by Maasai, feels like another planet. Prepare yourselves for the climb that will commence in the early morning hours, up the Mountain of God, Ol Doinyo Lengai, an active volcano that produces natrocarbonatite lava. Stay at the rustic but comfortable Lake Natron Safari Lodge before the climb. Climbing the mountain is subject to volcanic activity.

Today you climb Ol Doinyo Lengai, sacred mountain of the Maasai. It takes approximately 8 hours to go up and come down. Return and stay one more night at Serena Lake Manyara.

Time to unwind and relax at Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp, a luxurious and laid back camp on the shores of Lake Eyasi. This endorheic salt lake sits just on the floor of the Great Rift Valley at the base o f the Serengeti Plateau. Hadzabe hunter gatherers (also referred to as Pygmies) and Barbaigh (also known as Datoga) agro-pastoralists (some blacksmiths) live in this area.

This morning we meet up with the local Hadzabe to go hunting. The Hadzabe often live under the stars and survive and thrive on subsistence hunting and gathering, much like their and our ancestors 100 000 years ago. Hadzabe men are intimately knowledgeable of the bush and may be the best trackers in the world. The local Datoga blacksmiths sell spears and arrows to the Hadzabe, and Hadzabe women brew lethal poison for the hunt. The women will also teach you how to gather, and invite you to song and dance. Stay at Kisima Ngeda for a 2nd night.

Today we drive up the Great Rift Valley and on to Ngorongoro, where we stay just on the rim of the world' largest caldera, at Serena Ngorongoro. The views are the most spectacular in the world and if we are lucky we will encounter lions, elephants or leopards on the rim and enjoy sundowners on the deck of the lodge.

Today we set off down into the crater for our best shot at encountering the Big 5. 42 rhinos live in the crater and so do an estimated 60 lions, in 4 big families who have sub-divided the Crater floor into 4 sections. We will also meet up with local Maasai. Loserian is an elder in the Ngorongoro community and is excited to show you his traditional way of life. Enjoy sundowners watching the sun set over the crater. Stay for a 2nd night at Serena Ngorongoro.

Today, after a short game drive you part ways with your guide as you fly out to Zanzibar for the most relaxing part of your journey. In Stone Town you will meet a driver from Emerson Spice who takes you to the iconoclastic Stone Town palace. You stay in a large family suite and enjoy dinner at the best restaurant in East Africa. This is a restaurant that would have one or two Michelin stars in the West. On the rooftop you will feel like Arabian princess and princesses.

A driver from the boutique resort Matlai will pick you up and transfer you to their gorgeous property, where you will spend two nights in Villa Kidosho.
