We have breakfast in the hotel and start heading south passing through Antananarivo. Rice fields and typical villages of the Highlands represent the landscape right after Antananarivo. We stop in Ambatolampy to discover the rather amazing work of aluminum to make cooking pot for the whole country. We take lunch in town. Continuation towards Antsirabe in the afternoon. We keep going on the National Road 7 and progress towards the south. We continue to Ranomafana in Betsileo region, the main tribe on the south part of the Highlands of Madagascar. we have a winding road; we are close to the highest summit of the Great Island. Accomodation : Karibo Hotel

An early morning wake up will take you in the trails of the rainforest with some park rangers to discover lemurs and different wildlife in their natural habitat. Finishing the visit around before lunch time, we move to the old town of Fianarantsoa perched onto the hills with its beautiful traditional architecture reflecting the different stages of colonization. At Ambalavao, we visit the Antemoro paper factory. We cross the largest plateau of Madagascar constituted by a beautiful herbaceous steppe, topped with huge termite nests: it is IHorombe. The road unwinds its ribbon of tar on 245 km and the vegetation of the South takes gradually its place in the landscape: baobabs, aloes, Euphorbiaceous… You probably will come across impressive zebu cattle and will make stops in Mahafaly tombs, surprisingly decorated and erected with wooden sculptures. On arrival in Tulear, meeting with the driver who will go up your vehicle in Tana.
