At the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by your driver and transferred to your oasis in Nairobi. Depending on when your flight lands, you will have the day/evening to relax at hotel. Meals: Not included Accommodation: Fair view hotel

Day 2Nairobi – Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage – AFEW Giraffe Centre – Kazuri Bead Workshop – Nairobi

At 10:00 depart for a day of up close memorable experiences with some of Kenya’s beautiful animals and people. 1. Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage Made even more popular by the BBC’s show ‘Elephant Diaries’, this is where you can get up close and learn about the complex life of baby elephants (and sometimes baby rhino). During your hour-long visit you will be informed about the success the Sheldrick’s are having raring these orphans and reintroducing them back into Kenya’s wild. You will be at the orphanage for their feeding and play time which is a delight to watch. 2. AFEW Langata Giraffe Centre Have you ever been kissed with an 18 inch tongue? Once almost extinct, you can now handfeed the endangered Rothschild giraffes. It is quite an experience being eye to eye with a giraffe – you can get a real sense of the size of these gentle giants. There is also an education centre with lots of information about the breeding and conservation of the rarest of Kenya’s three giraffe species. 3. Kazuri Bead Workshop Visit one of Kenya’s business success stories. Established in the 1970s, this pottery, ceramic and bead factory employs all single mothers to make its beautiful gifts and souvenirs – which are now exported all around the world. There is a gift shop which stocks some of their wares. Please note that the workshop is closed Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday, however the gift shop is open 7 days. Day 3 Nairobi – Masai Mara

We depart in the morning initially heading North from Nairobi, stopping for magnificent views over the Great Rift Valley. We then begin our descent West over the escarpment and drive along the floor of the Rift Valley to the Masai town of Narok. After a stop for lunch, we proceed to the Masai Mara Game Reserve with game viewing enroute to the overnight camp. And don’t forget the Masai Mara is not fenced and that you can look out for animals not long after departing Narok. The Masai Mara Conservancy supports extensive wildlife and is a migration corridor to other parks and reserves. Meals: Lunch, Dinner Accommodation Camping: Fisi Camp

Day 4Masai Mara

Enjoy a full day game viewing with picnic lunch on the Mara River over-looking the Hippo Pools and the Serengeti. One of Kenya’s premier reserves, the Masai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti and world famous for the spectacular migration of thousands of wildebeest and zebra during the months of July and October. The Mara is also rich in resident game with over 95 species recorded. These include the “Big Five” – elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino – as well as giraffe, cheetah, hyena, hippo and numerous species of antelope. The reserve is also rich in birdlife with over 480 species recorded in recent times. Return to camp for dinner and overnight stay. If you are visiting during the migration period and wish to view this amazing spectical more extensively, we would suggest adding an extra day in the Masai Mara. Day 5 Masai Mara – Nakuru

After breakfast we undertake a short morning game drive or you have the option of taking a walk with the moran to visit a local manyatta and learn a little about the life of a nomadic pasturalist. Then depart the Mara and proceed via Narok to the Rift Valley town of Nakuru, where we arrive late afternoon. Overnight and dinner at the camp or hotel close to Nakuru. Day 6Lake Nakuru – Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, enter Lake Nakuru National Park, which is famous for the thousands of flamingo that inhabit the shores of the lake. In recent times, the water level of the lake has fluctuated greatly and this has affected the numbers of resident flamingos. Although perhaps most importantly, the Reserve has been established as a rhino sanctuary and black and white rhino are frequently seen on game drives – along with buffalo, lion, giraffe, waterbuck, and the elusive leopard. Picnic lunch in the park, then mid afternoon, depart for Lake Naivasha. We pass through Naivasha town and drive around the Southern end of the lake, past the flower farms to tonight’s camp. We arrive in time to enjoy an hour-long boatride on Lake Naivasha where you can spot hippo as well as many varieties of birds which live around the lake. Return to camp for dinner and overnight stay. Day 7 Lake Naivasha – Hell’s Gate – Nairobi – Kigali

Depart from Fisherman’s camp and drive the short distance to the entrance of Hell’s Gate National Park. Soon after you enter the park the impressive landscape unfolds before you, and you are transported to a dramatic, semi-arid world, with sheer rugged cliffs, open plains and deep concealed gorges. There are many activities you can do within Hell’s Gate including, walking, cycling, rock climbing, bird watching and trekking through the gorge amongst the geysers – the choice is yours. Picnic lunch in the park. Late afternoon we depart Hell’s Gate for Nairobi. Later transfer to the airport to catch your flight to Kigali, Rwanda Meals: breakfast, lunch

Day 8Kigali – Gisozi Genocide Memorial – Kimironko Market – Kigali City – Nyamirambo women center.

At 10:00 depart for a day of up close memorable experiences with some Rwanda beautiful people and culture. 1. Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site The was officially opened on April 7th, 2004 (on the 10th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide). This site was built to commemorate the 250,000 Tutsis murdered during the genocide. Special tribute goes to the Aegis Trust, a UK based charity organization in collaboration with the Kigali High Council. Aegis signifies “shield” or “trust”. This organization campaigns against crimes against humanity and genocide. It was established in 2000. The memorial site has the following: the main historical exhibition, a Children’s Memorial exhibition and an exhibition on comparative genocide – called Wasted Lives. The 4-acre memorial gardens contain 10 mass graves and the National Genocide Documentation Centre 2. Kimironko Market This is a huge local market. You can buy almost anything there. Alley upon alley of fascinating products / produce and vendors. I loved the bantering interaction with the vendors. Outside the main market, stalls sell everything from meat and fish to sunglasses and household items. Meals: breakfast, Lunch
