Summary

Tarangire National Park has some of the highest population density of elephants as compared to anywhere in Tanzania, and its sparse vegetation, strewn with baobab and acacia trees, makes it a beautiful and distinctive location to visit. Located just a few hours drive from the town of Arusha, Tarangire is a popular stop for people travelling through the northern safari circuit on their way to Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. The park extends into two game controlled areas and the wildlife is allowed to move freely throughout. Herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It’s the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem - a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed.

HOLIDAY IN TANZANIA WITH KITANO TOURS AND SAFARIS..
5
Jun 07 , 2020

Me, my sister and brother in law, have just returned from a 15 day trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar with the first week on safari staying at High View Lodge at Karatu and Ikoma Wild Camp in the Serengeti National Park and then at the Sultan Sands Hotel on Zanzibar. The whole holiday was a wonderful experience from start to finish and we were very impressed with the standard of service from Kitano Tours And Safaris. We found all the staff we came into contact with extremely friendly and helpful, while one or two people really stood out for us. The first was Peter Mtoto Gabi who was our guide for the safari in the first week. Our party was teamed up with two Swedish women and Peter was both an excellent guide and driver. He went out of his way to enable us to see the maximum possible number of animals and his knowledge and experience was greatly appreciated. He didn’t put any pressure on us in terms of timekeeping and in fact, we seemed to be the last truck to arrive back to base each day. In addition, he helped the whole group with the taking of the most fabulous photographs. He worked incredibly hard throughout the week for which he deserves special recognition. The second person was Hamis Ramadhani who was not our guide but he transported us from Kilimanjaro Airport to High View on the first day and we met up with him several times throughout the week. He was always very friendly and helpful for which we were very grateful. Thank you very much.
